The second EGTC workshop in 2021 organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade was held on 28 September in Budapest. During the event three CESCI colleagues held a presentation: Mátyás Jaschitz, the association’s director of planning, talked about those novelties concerning the border regions that are relevant for the EGTCs, Dr. Norbert Jankai, legal advisor, delivered a speech about the legal tasks concerning the EGTCs, and Enikő Hüse-Nyerges, project manager, presented the expected financial resources of the period 2021-2027.
During the first phase of the event the participants learnt about two good practices of foreign cooperation through the examples of the Euroregio Meuse-Rhine EGTC and the Haparanda-Tornio EGTC. This was followed by a variety of experts’ presentations on the challenges of EGTC management, on marketing, on budget planning and accounting issues, on cross-border employment, on cooperation between institutions and specialized authorities and finally on tourism planning.
At the end of the afternoon a short EGTC-roundtable discussion took place, during which the groupings discussed their current development objectives, the emerging challenges and other issues. The discussion was a great opportunity to exchange professional experience and to draw inspiration from each other.
