Presenting at AEBR Annual Conference 2020

| 07 November 2020

On the 5th and 6th November 2020 one of our close ally organisations, the AEBR held its Annual Conference where various stakeholders exchanged on two main topics: the future of the EU from the perspective of border regions, and the future role of AEBR. Divided in four sessions, inspiring discussions engaged many actors from border regions; the sessions can be watched again here.

According to previous year’s tradition, on the day before the Annual Conference, AEBR organised its Cross-border School, this year dedicated to concluding the lessons learned on cross-border spatial planning, cross-border culture, cross-border labor market and corss-border regions in covid times. In the first panel, our colleague, Kitti Dubniczki chief planner also delivered a presentation on the Cross-border planning on the Hungarian-Ukrainian border.

In her presentation, she highlighted that crossing the border on this 160 km long border section is not as easy and fast as within the Schengen area. However, the cross-border territorial planning has similar goals here, than in the Western part of Europe: to focus on identifying territorial challenges and potentials of the border area and to prepare the frames of future cooperation opportunities. As an illustration, the Cohesion Analysis and Integrated Development Strategy of the Tisza EGTC had been presented, a 300-page long in-depth state of play analysis and strategic plan that CESCI prepared a few years ago.
