CESCI initiated the formation of a regularly organised workshop toward the EGTCs with Hungarian participants for better information flow and providing the succes of their joint presence. The first meeting took place on 3rd-4th July 2012 in Salgóbánya, with the participation of the representatives of 10 registered EGTCs.

The Gate to Europe European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation with Limited Liability was registered on 07.05.2012 and contains 36 municipalities from the Hungarian-Romanian border area. The operating area of the EGTC covers a total of 2 617,9 km2, partly affecting the southern part of Nyírség, Érmellék/Valea Ierului, Berettyó and the Hajdúság Landscape Protection Area.
