EGTC, the new generation of cross-border cooperation

The aim of the short film is to present the legal-organisational model, the EGTC (European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation) established by the European Union in 2007.

When creating the film in 2010, only eight EGTCs were registered in Europe, including the Ister-Granum EGTC across the Hungarian-Slovak border, with its seat in Esztergom. The film goes in brief detail about the advantages of the EGTC, the characteristics of the EGTC as a legal form and the main aspects arising of its establishment, and it also provides some examples of the cooperation territories that could be organised in the framework of the groupings. The short movie also discusses the founding and registration processes of the EGTCs along the Hungarian borders until 2011, presents the then situation and provides an outlook on the future opportunities of founding such groupings. In the video, there are interviews with experts having experience in cross-border territorial development from both sides of the Slovak-Hungarian border, experts dealing with the development and management of cross-border projects, including some team members of CESCI.
