CESCI expands the networking through the application for membership in international organisations

| 21 July 2021

In compliance with the decision of the General Assembly held on 31 May 2021, CESCI applies for membership to four acknowledged international organisations. The objective of the decision is to broaden the professional networking of the association at the international scene.

Since the establishment, CESCI has always been developing the international partnerships in order to acquire a comprehensive knowledge on cross-border cooperation (CBC) and to build up alliances in the field of policy-making. The decision of the General Assembly (GA) of the association made on 31 May, 2021 is consistent with the above policy objectives when authorising the chairman and the secretary general to apply for membership in four international organisations.

ISOCARP (International Society of City and Regional Planners) is a world-wide organisation of urban and regional planners dedicated to knowledge sharing and interest representation. The association is based in The Hague, the Netherlands. Since 2009 CESCI has accumulated comprehensive experiences in the field of cross-border regional planning which creates the common ground for cooperation with other members of the ISOCARP.

Regional Studies Association (RSA) is one of the most significant global networks, operating in the fields of regional and urban research, development and policy with acknowledged publications and professional events. Border Studies is a popular segment of regional studies where CESCI is active.

The EUREGHA (European Regional and Local Health Authorities) is a network of regional public bodies and professional organisations involved in cross-border health care developments. By nature, it is the only such initiative in Europe, based in Brussels. Since 2016 CESCI has been actively involved in diverse activities targeting cross-border provision of health services and this justifies the application.

The Western Balkan Network on Territorial Governance (TG-WEB) is an informal network of institutions and natural persons interested in territorial policies in the Western Balkans. CESCI and CESCI Balkans share the objectives of the initiative targeting better territorial governance and EU integration. Consequently, the management of CESCI is looking forward a fruitful cooperation within the framework of the network.

In compliance with the decision of the GA, the applications have been sent to the organisations which will remarkably broaden the international networking of CESCI.
