The Kolo Serbian Cultural Center is celebrating its first birthday

The Kolo Serbian Cultural Center, which was built as part of the Interreg-IPA Hungary-Serbia Cross-border Cooperation Programme (more precisely the Mórahalom part of the Colourful Cooperation project (HUSRB/1601/31/0005)), has opened to the public at the end of March 2019.

The BTC EGTC has been a professional cooperative partner of the Kolo Serbian Cultural Center since the idea of the center was born. The establishment of the Center was strategic for the BTC EGTC as well, because many cultural, religious, social and economic events promoted the cohesion between nations and the relations in border regions over the last year. The Kolo Center has hosted 40 large-scale events and several domestic and Serbian civil society initiatives over the last 12 months. Theater, concerts, dance performances, children’s and social events were enhancing culture building a stronger connection between the Serbian and Hungarian cultural lives. The Center was planning on celebrating its first birthday with a special event: The Serbian Bunjevacki Kolo band, consisting of almost 80 dancers and an orchestra, was going to give a dance theater performance on the 28th of March 2020. The event is postponed because of the epidemiological situation.
