Regional situation analysis. Steps 1-6. Ister Granum EGTC (HU)

Within the framework of the project called WAVE (WAter-linked heritage Valorization by developing an Ecosystemic approach), supported by the INTERREG EUROPE programme of the European Union, CESCI prepared the Regional Status Quo analysis at the request of the Ister-Granum EGTC.

The aim of the document is to identify synergistic relationships coming from endogenous resources on which water-related cultural heritage sites can receive new functions in the future. The document grouped a total of 17 cultural heritage elements into three pilot packages: ‘the face of the water’ mainly focused on the development opportunities of the waterside promenades in the region, ‘the power of the water’ mapped the cultural and tourism potential associated with the creative and destructive forces of water through watermills, a water machine and flood signs, while ‘the spirit of water’ connects and reimagines water-related cultural elements such as the Danube Museum, the Nautical Museum in Zebegény, the bridge guard and Aquaphone projects, and the Szikince Festival.
