Open call for hosting study trips in rural placemaking

| 25 November 2025

Led by the Contemporary Architecture Centre and supported by the Interreg Danube Region Program, the PlaceCraft project is accepting applications from multi-ethnic villages and rural areas in Hungary, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Moldova, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, and Slovenia that would like to host international study trips on the topic of ” rural placemaking.”

The aim of the call is to develop a sustainable rural development and placemaking model based on cultural heritage and tourism. Focusing on multi-ethnic villages in the Danube region, they support the creation, renewal, and reinterpretation of community spaces. International study trips will be organized to the selected villages. On these occasions, local actors will be able to share their experiences and stories with the PlaceCRAFT team, involved experts, and active regional and international participants, thereby enabling their settlements to become models for sustainable, collaborative rural communities of the future.

During 2026–2027, the selected locations will gain international visibility, professional contacts, and opportunities for knowledge exchange, while contributing to the development of a sustainable, community-based rural development model.

Applications can be submitted using the form below.
