Cross-border rescue. Summary report about the harmonisation of the cross-border ambulance services. (Legal Accessibility: Third milestone)

In the framework of one of the sub-projects of the third milestone of the Legal accessibility project, CESCI continued its work from the previous two milestones to further facilitate the development of the rescue discourse between Hungary and the neighbouring EU Member States. In the framework of the summary report of the health-themed sub-project from 2018, the standpoints of the authorities in the neighbouring countries are presented, as well as the existing policy guidelines related to the topic. All of this brings us closer to formulating the proposals for the harmonisation of laws.

The document summarizes the activities and results of the sub-project, including the personal interviews with the competent cross-border institutions with regional officials from four neighbouring countries (Austria, Croatia, Romania, Slovenia) on the details of the operation of the rescue and emergency care systems, the establishment of personal contacts between those affected and an international, interactive professional seminar to summarize possible frameworks for regulatory harmonization.

The document includes the comparison proposal of the neighbouring countries’ rescue systems according to specific aspects based on the experiences of the previous legal accessibility project, as well as the reconciliation process of the steps necessary to overcome the obstacles.

The document summarises further needs for involving partners, which was determined as a result of the sub-project, and it also involves operative proposals (e.g. the development of an international rating system and a common certificate; setting up a national coordination centre; establishing interpreting services).
