Contribution in the establishment of the Pons Danubii EGTC 

The Pons Danubii European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation with Limited Liability was registered on 15.12.2010 with the collaboration of three local governments in Slovakia (Hurbanovo, Kolárovo, Komárno) and three local governments in Hungary (Komárom, Tata, Kisbér). The city of Oroszlány joined the Grouping later. The operational area of the EGTC covers 544,5 km2, including the landscapes of Vértes and Bakonyalja hills, and the areas of the rivers Duna/Dunaj and Vág/Váh. The population of the Grouping is 99 749 people and it is based in Komárno, Slovakia.

Alongside the elaboration of a common development programme the objective of the EGTC is to enable, promote and strengthen the economic and social cohesion through the implementation of territorial cooperation programmes co-financed by the European Union as well as to exploit the advantages of the EGTC’s Grouping’s status as a legal entity, within the administrative confines borders of the members.

The specific objectives of the Grouping are the following ones:

  • to increase cross-border cohesion in the territory of the Grouping,
  • to implement projects with the aim of joint strategic development,
  • to facilitate the daily life of citizens within the territory of the Grouping.
