CESCI General Assembly meeting 2019

| 30 May 2019

The CESCI Annual General Assembly in 2019 was held on May 29 at the Falk1 Event Centre in Budapest. The members of the General Assembly adopted the agenda that was set in the invitation following the election of the keeper of the minutes and the verifier, and then they listened to the presented reports (organisational, presidential, supervisory and cooperative organisations – CESCI Balkans, CESCI Carpathia reports).

Among the member affairs, the General Assembly took note of Sopron Municipality’s exit and then voted for the entering of the Mura Region EGTC. Then they accepted CESCI’s work and financial plan of 2019. In connection with the work plan, the Secretary General indicated that due to the increased number of tasks and the staff numbers, there will be a change in the management of the Work Organization in the near future: Mátyás Jaschitz will be the Chief Operating Officer, while the Secretary General will only deal with strategic issues.

On the last item on the agenda, Secretary General Gyula Ocskay requested the support of the members of the General Assembly for the transformation of the European Institute, which is operating as CESCI’s institution, into an independent legal entity. He recalled the first Esztergom-period of the institute, launched in 2013, and the move of the institution to Budapest in 2016. He has identified more opportunities for applications and opportunities to join the European research network as the reasons for becoming an independent institute. The Secretary General emphasised that the fast independence was not certain, and it is not even clear that CESCI would be the founder, however, room for maneuver should be created for it. He suggested the usage of the word “CESCI” in the name of the new independent Institute.
