Workshops on regional development

+ | 05 December 2022

A series of workshops with a long-term outlook on national regional development was organised in October and November 2022. As requested by Tibor Navracsics, Minister for Regional Development, the main topics of the professional workshops were the renewal of the territorial development strategy, regional challenges, regional development goals, policy guidelines, and revisiting the National Spatial Development Concept (in Hungarian: OFTK).

The aim of this series of professional events, held in the five economic development zones and in the three focus areas, was to bring together local regional development experts to discuss the current challenges of regional development in the given areas, thus contributing to the renewal of regional development and the OFTK.

At the invitation of the Regional Development Planning and Support Department of the Ministry of Regional Development, CESCI also took part in these workshops. Our organisation was represented by Mátyás Jaschitz, Director, who promoted the recognition of cross-border aspects of regional development in each workshop he participated in. Furthermore, he stressed the importance of conscious management of these cross-border considerations, and drew attention to the regional development potential of the Hungarian EGTC network.
