| 21 July 2021

The Pálfi István Scholarship Program was announced again last year by the Pálfi István Regional Development Foundation in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. Students completing their 4th or 5th year of higher education, MSc students, PhD students, PhD graduates or doctoral candidates in Hungary or abroad were all eligible to apply.

The call for applications revealed that the 5 students receiving the scholarship were tasked to prepare a research plan, then to complete the related study and research work in a topic concerning regional development, and preferably an EGTC.  In addition to the scholarship, the students also received professional tutoring support for the research they carried out.

The scholarship holders met at the Falk1 Event Centre on 2nd June. The event was opened by the welcoming speech of Dr. András Levente Gál, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Pálfi István Regional Development Foundation, which was followed by Dr. Katalin Fekete’s professional presentation on the border development projects supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. After that, Gyula Ocskay, CESCI’s secretary general discussed the possible future of European borders after the end of the COVID-19 pandemic. The presentation was followed by the introduction of active scholarship holders (partly in an online form) and visitors got to know more about the research topics of János András Bene, Mátyás Berecz, Enikő Konkoly, Cecília Sándor and Enya-Andrea Tamas.

After the conclusion of the questions and comments section, the event ended with an informal conversation and a buffet dinner.
