On behalf of DG REGIO, the Mission Opérationnelle Transfrontalière (MOT) and the Association of European Border Regions (AEBR) have launched a new and innovative initiative in cross-border crisis management and spatial planning. The “Resilient Borders – Cross-Border Spatial Planning and Crisis Management Pilot Actions” aims to promote the development of joint, resilient plans for border regions.
The Resilient Borders project offers financial support and expert assistance to stakeholders who wish to create joint crisis management or spatial planning programmes in border regions. Public entities, organisations, and cross-border structures from EU border regions and neighbouring EFTA countries are eligible to apply. Successful applicants can receive up to €40,000 to develop joint crisis management plans or to establish common governance structures through cross-border spatial planning.
The call for proposals is open until 30 November 2024, and interested parties can find further details on the Resilient Borders official website.
The selected pilot actions—across 20 border regions in total—will be implemented in 2025, providing border regions with the opportunity to collaborate using innovative methods and strengthen their joint resilience.
For more information, visit the Resilient Borders website, or sign up for the online information session, which will take place on 30 October 2024, from 11:30 to 12:30 CET. Registration for participation can be done via this link: Zoom registration.
