Position paper of CESCI regarding the Karácsony report on the Commission’s Territorial Cohesion policy and the EU Budget

In September 2017, the European Commission’s Commissioner for Regional Policy published the Communication called ‘Boosting Growth and Cohesion in EU Border Regions’ containing EU actions and planned interventions to remove legal barriers along the internal borders.

Our association has played an active role in the preparation of the Communication through its involvement in the Cross-Border Review project and is also mentioned in the Communication in connection with the project on Legal Accessibility. In 2018, CESCI also participated in the EC promotion of the Communication and its 10-point Action Plan by two presentations in Bratislava (1st February) and in Drama, Greece (25th October).

Our association is also an active member of the EU information platform developed according to the Communication, and regularly publish news about CESCI’s professional activities there. On behalf of the Committee of the Regions, the Hungarian delegate, Mr Ádám Karácsony was assigned to draft a report on the Communication to whom CESCI provided professional assistance (in several rounds) between March and August: a background document was compiled for the delegate then unfamiliar with the topic, and beside giving him the necessary background ammunition, CESCI commented the completed proposal on two rounds.
