CESCI and partners applied for the Horizon Twinning call

| 03 March 2022

Together with the University of Public Services (Hungary) as Lead Partner on the one hand and the Karelian Institute (University of Eastern Finland), Lisbon University Institute (Portugal) and the European Academy in Bolzano (Italy) as project partners on the other, CESCI applied for funding within the framework of the Twinning Horizon call at the end of January 2022.

The Twinning call of the Horizon Europe Programme promotes cooperation between scientifically highly developed and widening countries in order to improve the latter ones’ scientific capacities and excellence with the assistance of the former ones.

The joint proposal is called “PERIPATEIN 3.0” alluding to Aristotle’s teaching method walking  along accompanied by the students. The numbering indicates that this was the third time to submit a proposal to a Twining call in the field of Border Studies – hopefully, this time with success…

The background of the project proposal was given by the establishment of the UPS-CESCI Research Group on Border Studies, at the beginning of December. The major expected outcome of the PERIPATEIN project should be the transformation of the Research Group operating within the University to an independent research institute. For this purpose, the scientific administration and fundraising capacities, as well as the scientific excellence of the research group will be developed through a colourful set of activities and with the conduct of the three world-wide known research institutes.

This way, CESCI would like to improve the scientific background of the work done for the borderlands in Central Europe and extend the networking capacities within the Danube Region.
