The Review of the Territorial Strategy of the Rába-Danube-Váh EGTC (HU)

The RDV EGTC already had a territorial strategy (The Rába-Danube-Váh EGTC Integrated Territorial Development Strategy), the review became necessary due to the expansion of the cooperation’s membership.

Between 2015 and 2019 the number of the members of the RDV EGTC doubled: Bratislava and Nitra regions from Slovakia and Pest region from Hungary joined grouping composed by the Slovakian Trnava  and the Hungarian Komárom-Esztergom and Győr-Moson-Sopron regions. As a result, the total surface of the grouping of 10,617 km2 is now extended to 25,407 km2. The RDV EGTC, with an increased territory and population, had to inherently reconsider its development activities. In order to rethink the strategy, the cohesion policy of the new EU  planning period starting in 2021 being under preparation, the European Territorial Cooperation programmes, the different regional needs of the extended membership had to be considered, identifying the cooperation territories that are relevant to the entire territory of today’s six regions and that can serve the cohesion of the whole territory.

Eco-tourist destination development, strengthening social relationships and the use of environmental assets are the key areas of cooperation.
