Professional visit at the Euro-Institut in Kehl

| 13 October 2021

On 5 October 2021, the Secretary General of CESCI participated in a professional visit at the Euro-Institut in Kehl, Germany. The representatives of the two organisations expressed their willingness to enhance their cooperation.

The institution, which supports Franco-German cross-border cooperation from a professional perspective, was founded in 1993. Its members include the French government and the state government of Baden-Württemberg, the French Grand-Est region and the municipality of Strasbourg, and, on the German side, the Ortenau district and the municipalities of Kehl and Freiburg. Anne Thevenet, Deputy Director of the Euro-Institut, described the wide-ranging activities of the 19 staff members of the institute to the Secretary General of CESCI.

In addition to supporting the work of cross-border organisations along the Rhine, the institute also provides training to empower citizens working and living in the border region. As the driving force of the Transfrontier Euro-Institut Network (TEIN), it also plays an important role in the exchange of knowledge at EU level. At the General Assembly of TEIN in the autumn of 2021, the network itself took the initiative to invite CESCI to become a member. No decision could be reached on this topic at the meeting, but the partners expressed their intention to strengthen their cooperation in the future.
