Monošter Forum

Since 2015, CESCI, accompanied by the two embassies and the local municipality organises the Szentgotthárd / Monošter Forum annually in the capital of the Slovenes living in Hungary. The event provides the opportunity of encountering for different Hungarian and Slovenian public institutions, CSOs and representatives of the business sphere in order to enhance the cooperation, to trigger joint projects, actions and to improve mutual understanding.

On 21 and 22 April 2015, under the auspice of the ambassadors of the two countries, H. E. Ksenija Škrilec and H. E. Edit Szilágyiné Bátorfi, Hungarian and Slovenian mayors, businessmen, experts of regional development and representatives of the academic sphere met in Szentgotthárd / Monošter in order to unfold the potentials of cooperation, to share their ideas with their neighbours and to find partners for concrete projects. The parties then signed the Szentgotthárd / Monošter call and by that, engaged in a regular annual meeting where the cooperation between stakeholders of the neighbouring nations can be enhanced and enlarged.

    Fifth seminar

    The main theme of the fifth Szentgotthárd Forum is the development challenges and opportunities of the Hungarian-Slovenian border with particular regard to regional development and cooperation resources available during the 2021-2027 programming period, as well as bilateral initiatives designed to address the specific challenges of the border region with mixed nationalities.

    Fourth seminar

    During the forum in 2018 the main topics of the plenary sessions focused on the challenges and opportunities of the economic and social development of peripheral areas through agriculture and environmental protection, aging society and capacity building, education, mobility and tourism.

    Third seminar

    In 2017 the key topic of the seminar was digital technology. The participants of the forum spent the two days to find out how digitalisation helps in the development of economy, education, tourism, silver economy and bilingualism and the cooperation among these fields as well.

  • 11-12 April 2016

    Second seminar

    In 2016, the two-day long program included a number of lectures on cooperation and on diverse topics such as the legal environment for company establishment and taxation in Slovenia, bilingualism issues, the frameworks and perspectives of tourism cooperation, the institutional frameworks of Slovenian-Hungarian cross-border cooperation, transport development plans and opportunities for cross-border economic development based on local resources. In addition, the event in 2016 also provided an opportunity for the participants to present their project ideas and networking.

    First Seminar

    During the seminar in 2015, the promoters of each project had the opportunity to present their project ideas and find partners across the border, as well as identify the resources that can be used to implement these projects, such as the EU funds of Brussels, the call for proposals of the Slovenia-Hungary Cross-border Cooperation Programme 2014-2020, the Central Europe Transnational Programme as well as the non-EU funds that support Slovenian-Hungarian cooperation.
