Background study for the construction of the border crossing planned between Geszt and Cefa (HU)

CESCI was asked by the Prime Minister’s Office to prepare a short summary study providing a background for making decisions on the planned construction of a new border crossing between the Hungarian Gest and the Romanian Cefa.

In order to make an informed decision about the crossing, two issues needed to be addressed:

  1. what functions the new border crossing may perform;
  2. what is the financial-socio-environmental impact of the investment and are these costs commensurate with the planned functions?
