Arrabona EGTC continues to build the tourism of Žitný ostrov and Szigetköz

Arrabona EGTC, seated in Győr, and the Regional Tourism Association of Žitný ostrov in Slovakia held a press conference on the launching of a joint project on 12th August 2020, in Dunajská Streda. The objective of the tender realised within the frames of this collaboration is the promotion of the cross-border tourist destination of Szigetköz-Žitný ostrov, and the presentation of the touristic values of the region.

The recently launched project within the frames of the Small Project Fund of Interreg V-A Slovakia-Hungary Cooperation programme, with registration number SKHU/WETA/1901/4.1/101, has envisaged the further development of the achievements reached so far, and the joint promotion of the region. To that end, the partners are planning to implement several action plans and activities during the project duration, such as the widespread online promotion of the page mentioned above, the realisation of a new promotional film presenting the region’s natural and cultural values, and the organisation of some promotional events.

During the implementation of the project, as part of the activities of the Regional Tourism Association of Žitný ostrov, a further development of content is planned to update the functioning touristic website and the tourist facilities of the region. Both for the areas of Szigetköz and Žitný ostrov, 10 thematic tourism trails will be established with the designation and description of cycle lanes and waterways, and focusing on the unique thematic areas (historical, cultural, folkloric) of the regions.
