A Ukrainian handbook on cross-border cooperation has been published

In February 2020, our association signed a cooperation agreement with the Institute of Economics and Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the Faculty of Law of the National University of Uzhgorod. As part of the cooperation, a handbook entitled “Cross-border cooperation: legal bases and successful practices” has now been published, in which the Secretary General of our association also wrote a chapter.

The aim of the agreement reached in February is, on the one hand, to provide technical support to the parties in shaping the relevant Ukrainian legislation, which will make cross-border cooperation more smooth; on the other hand, help local actors to develop cross-border cooperation. The signatories also work closely with the Council of Europe.

Thanks to this co-operation, a handbook in Ukrainian was published in the last days of September, which comprehensively discusses the legal, administrative, economic and social aspects of cross-border cooperation and provides guidance for the establishment and development of cooperation.

The Handbook provides a scientific and practical overview of the legal framework for cross-border co-operation in the context of Ukrainian and European law, the Council of Europe’s instrument system on relevant issues, and successful domestic and foreign practical examples of cross-border co-operation.

The online publication was maintained by the Council of Europe and the professional content was provided by experts from the cooperating partners. The document can be read in Ukrainian here.
